Case1: How can we improve test equipment for prototype cars?
An essential part of testing prototypes of new cars is to measure the vehicle components in extreme driving conditions. In prototypes there are many measuring points (300 or more) and data are logged for temperature, pressure, voltage, currents and internal vehicle information (from the various control units within the car).
Among the current challenges in developing an improved test system is to reduce the time it takes to assemble the testing equipment. As space in the car is limited it is also useful to develop decentralised measuring systems with standardised interfaces for fitted components or reliable radio-controlled interfacing. Another improvement would be to have smaller measuring devices with high temperature stability.
